Obituary

Wilma Jean McCloskey Willy, 89, of Delphi, died Monday-May 29, 2017 at 7:50am at White Oak Health Campus Assisted Living, Monticello. She was born Jan 10, 1928 in Deer Creek, IN, to the late Willard McCloskey, and Rowena Campbell McCloskey Martin. After her father died, her mother remarried Charles Martin. Her marriage was to Donald B. Willy, in the Cathedral Chapel in Indianapolis, on Feb 3, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Oct 3, 2016. She graduated from Deer Creek High School in 1946. She graduated from Wedekind Beauty School in Logansport in 1946.  From 1955 to 1990 she had her own beauty shop in her home. While growing up in Deer Creek, she attended Hopewell Presbyterian Church. She was a deacon and very active member at Frist Presbyterian Church in Delphi, where she taught Sunday school, helped with funeral dinners, help serve the monthly senior meal, and volunteered in the Clothes Closet, a thrift shop for those in need. She was active with the Aim High Home Ec Club, she and her husband were on the board of directors of Camp Tecumseh, they enjoyed square dancing, and played in their euchre card club. They always went on a family vacation, and enjoyed camping, and traveling with her husband on REMC trips. She was an avid reader, and loved to cook. She dearly loved her family, and all of the gatherings they had together. That was her joy in life. Surviving: daughters-Diane & Brad Baker of Monticello, Denise & Jeff Craig of Delphi; son-Doug & Stephanie Willy of Delphi; sister-Jenny Appleton of Savanah, GA; brother-Eddie McCloskey of Naples, FL; grandchildren: Jessica & Mike Shea, Kodi Baker, Jenna & Kyle Richardson, Chad Willy, Portia Willy, Tim Brummett, Tara & Matt Welches; 5 great grandchildren. Preceded by a sister Dorothy Fulton. Services: Friends may call Thursday from 4-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service Friday 11am at First Presbyterian Church Delphi, Rev. Ed Selvidge & Father Robert Williams officiating. She will lie in state 1 hour prior to the funeral. Burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.
