Obituary

William H. “Bill Jocko” Jargstorf Jr., 89, of Delphi, passed away Thursday-June 25, 2026, at 4:19pm, at his home. Bill was born on October 2, 1936, in Chicago, to the late William & Verdella Louise Knepper Jargstorf Sr. His marriage was to Carmen Sue Ann Newton, in Logansport, on January 28, 1961, and she preceded him in death on September 8, 2024. Bill graduated from Logansport High School in 1954. He attended Tulane University on an athletic scholarship playing basketball and was enrolled there until June of 1958. In November of 1958, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He had an opportunity to become a counterintelligence agent and pursued that assignment until being honorably discharged in February of 1962. He continued his education at IU Kokomo, and transferred to IU Bloomington, where he received his degree in Education in June of 1964, and received his graduate degree in Education from Purdue University in August of 1968. He started teaching math at the old Monroe Street Middle School on August 10, 1964, and then became the principal there. He continued that administrative roll until the school was closed and the new middle school was built. He then became assistant principal at Delphi Community High School for several years, then joined the math department there, teaching math until his retirement from the Delphi Community School Corporation in August of 1996. Bill was an avid golfer and loved to play with his son & close friends. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, his yearly fishing trip to Canada with his son and friends. He enjoyed creating beautiful windows out of stained glass that he would make for his family and friends. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed being together for any occasion. He was proud of them all. Surviving: son-Mark & Diana Jargstorf of Delphi, grandson-Dr. Justin Jargstorf & Alex Harber of Louisville, granddaughter-Dr. Jordayn & Zach Johnson of Ft. Wayne, sister-Barbara Wilson of Lucerne, and a great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother John, a sister Phyllis. A private celebration of Bill’s life will take place.
