August 1, 1948 – March 27, 2022
Willard "Will" Bolton, 73, of rural Flora, passed away in his home Sunday-March 27, 2022, at 3:48am, after a 6-month illness. He was born August 1, 1948, in Habersham, TN, to the late Jerimiah & Tempay Walden Bolton. His marriage was to Elsie S. Epperson in Howard County, IN, on May 21, 1982, and she survives. Will attended Kokomo High School, and later received his GED in the military. He was an SGT U.S. Army 101 st Airbourne, 1 st Calvary Air Mobile, serving in Vietnam for 1 ½ years. He was wounded, and awarded the Purple Heart, Silver & Bronze Star's, and received a citation from President Nixon for his military service. He worked for 23 years as a crane operator in the rod mill department at the former Continental Steel in Kokomo. He then worked at Carroll County CO-OP; Kokomo Tube in Peru; Pearson's in Delphi; and at Deer Creek Ent. He attended Hillside Missionary Baptist Church on HWY 22 near Burlington. He was a 32-degree Mason at the Camden Masonic Lodge; the Birmingham Roller Assoc.; the former Beagle Club near Lake Cicott; and the Howard County Coon Hunters Club. Will enjoyed raising, and training horses, especially Tennessee Walkers. His favorite horse Bullitt is still at his farm. He enjoyed making all sorts of horse drawn wagons for parades. He loved watching old western movies with his wife and kids and listening to gospel music. He enjoyed racing late model race cars, and was an avid NASCAR fan, the late Dale Sr. was his favorite driver. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and camping with his family. Family was everything to Will. He dearly loved them all and being together for any reason always put a big smile on his face. Surviving: wife-Elsie S. Bolton of Flora; son-Willard Blaine "Will" Bolton of Deer Creek; daughters-Valerie & Ed Little of Bringhurst, Nanette Walker of Amboy, & Michelle Trine of Kokomo; sisters-Josephine Norris of Kokomo, Rose Ploss of Crossville, TN, & Delphine & Carlie Pearson of Gainesville, FL; brothers-Tom & Roberta Bolton & David & Mary Bolton both of Kokomo; 16 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a son Michael L. Stroup; a daughter Amanda Bolton Grimes; 1 sister; & 3 brothers. Services: Visitation will be Wednesday-March 30, 2022, from 11am until his funeral service at 1pm, at the Hillside Missionary Baptist Church, 12080 W. 100 N., Kokomo, IN 46901, off HWY 22 near Burlington. Pastor Bill Fields officiating. Burial will be at Camden Cemetery, with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
