Vera D. Cheesman Marcum, 80, of Delphi, passed away Saturday-January 18, 2025, at 12:58pm, at Mulberry Health Memory Care Unit. Vera was born on April 7, 1944, in Lafayette, to the late Purdue & Addie Kerfoot Cheesman. Her marriage was to Bobbie C. Marcum Sr, in Lafayette, on February 3, 1962, and he survives. Vera attended Jeff High School. She previously worked at the former Home Hospital in Lafayette, delivering meals for the patients. After she was married, she helped her husband on their farm and was a homemaker. While living in Lee County, VA, she milked cows on a dairy farm for 5 years. Vera enjoyed gardening. She grew everything and enjoyed sharing her produce with her family and close friends. She had fruit trees and kept her flower gardens around her home manicured and always looking beautiful. Deer Meadows subdivision was her dream. Lots of planning and hard work made her dream a reality, and it turned out exactly the way she had hoped. She and Bobbie would gift each new homeowner a Christmas ornament, for their 1st Christmas in their new home. Vera's greatest love was for her family. She dearly loved them all and enjoyed being together for any occasion. They were her life. Surviving: husband-Bobbie C. Marcum Sr of Delphi, son-Bobbie & Bonny Marcum Jr of Brookston, son-Michael W. Marcum of Clarks Hill, daughter-Charlene & Sean Hart of Delphi, sister-Norita Kingery of Lafayette. 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, & 1 great great granddaughter survive. Preceded in death by a sister Ruby, brother Ronnie, great grandson Jace Owen Hart, and a great granddaughter Rowan Renee Hart. Services: Visitation will be Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Her funeral service will be there on Thursday at 11am, Rev. Todd Ladd officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, envelopes available at the funeral home. The Marcum family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Mulberry Memory Care Unit for the outstanding care, love, and compassion they showed their mother.
