Thelma J. Randle Peterson, 91, of rural Delphi, passed away Sunday at 3:35am at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, and had been in failing health the past year. She was born January 29, 1930, in Adams Township, Carroll County, to the late Henry & Rose Simon Randle. Her marriage was to Thomas Peterson Jr, in Flora, on October 11, 1947, and he preceded in death on June 15, 2002. She graduated in 1947 from Roosevelt High School in Monticello. She was a cook at the former Pittsburg Elementary School for 7 years, then worked at the former Popejoy Cole Slaw Plant in Delphi for several years, and for John's Liquor Store in Delphi for 25 years. She enjoyed helping her husband on their farm, which they purchased in 1972, and was a homemaker. She was a 50-year member of the Monticello Eagles Lodge Auxiliary #2570, and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Frankfort. She enjoyed planting and raising a big garden for her family and neighbors to share and enjoyed her many flower gardens around her home. She loved to put puzzles together and had a big one on her dining room table she was currently working on. She enjoyed fishing with her family, being outside enjoying nature, and was always thinking of other's, putting their needs before her own. Her greatest love was for her family and grandchildren. The family gatherings they would share at her home, being together for any reason was her greatest love. Surviving: daughter-Marsha & Larry Joe Alspaugh of Flora; son-Larry & Janet Peterson Sr of Delphi; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; & 7 great great grandchildren survive. She was preceded in death by 7 sister's and 4 brother's; a great grandson and a great great granddaughter. Services: Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi, with an Eagles Auxiliary Memorial Service at 6:45. Her funeral service will be Friday at 1pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Robert Houser officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Carroll County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association or the American Heart Association, envelopes available at the funeral home.
