Stephen M. Wargo, 73, of Delphi, passed away unexpectedly on Monday-March 24, 2025, at 4:45am, at the emergency room at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. Steve was born on December 23, 1951, in Valparaíso, to the late Harold & Vera Ehrenhardt Wargo. His marriage was to Brenda K. Flory, in Delphi, on April 4, 1987, and she survives. Steve graduated from Highland High School in 1970 and attended Vincennes University. Steve worked at ADM in Frankfort for over 30 years, in operations of beanmeal and oil production. He retired from there in 2012. Steve was involved with Martial Arts for over 50 years. He was a 10th Dan Grand Master. He had his own school, Professor Wargo's Aikido Dojo at his home near Delphi for many years. He was inducted into the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame and attained the degree Dr. Stephen M. Wargo Soke. He competed and took students to numerous tournaments and received many awards and trophies throughout the years. Steve enjoyed gardening, especially sharing his produce with his family and friends. He loved being outdoors' and kept his yard and landscape perfectly maintained. He loved to hunt & fish, and his 2 Alaskan Malamute dogs. He dearly loved his family. And enjoyed being together for any occasion. Surviving: wife-Brenda K. Wargo of Delphi, daughter-Teresa K. Johnson of Lafayette, daughter- Martha L. Delaney of Fowler, daughter-Mary M. Platt of Lafayette, son-Pete & Emily Wargo of Monticello, son-Tim & Ginger Wargo of Palm Bay, FL, daughters-Jennifer, Teresa, & Angie, sons-Steve & Josh, 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brother-in-law-Larry Redlin of FL. Preceded in death by a son Benjamin, grandson Evan, sister Debra. Services: Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm until his funeral service at 6pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor Greg Brenneman officiating. Private family burial. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
