Obituary

Sherri Lee Walker Hicks, 56, of Delphi, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday-October 31, 2023, at 7:53pm, at her residence. She had battled cancer for the past 3 weeks. She was born May 31, 1967, in Lafayette to her late mother Delores J. Burge Howe, and her father Larry P. Walker who survives. Her marriage was to Brandon T. Hicks in Delphi, on September 3, 2010, and he survives. Sherri attended Carroll Jr-Sr High School in Flora. Her first job was at Zinn Kitchens in Flora. She then worked at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette, and then in the cafeteria at the Delphi Community Middle School for 20 years. Currently she is a co-owner with her sister in, Sherr-Kan Clean. A residential cleaning business they started 1 year ago. Sherri was a member of the Pittsburg Community Church and had attended the New Beginnings Southern Baptist Church in Monticello, where she taught Sunday school. Sherri enjoyed going to garage sales and flower gardening around her home. She loved being outdoors' and loved to go on float trips down Deer Creek with her husband and family. She loved to pull pranks on her family and had a great sense of humor. Always game for retaliation. Always a smile on her face and a true giving heart. Helping anyone she could or crossed paths with. She loved family gatherings, and dearly loved her entire family, and being with them for any occasion. Surviving: husband-Brandon T. Hicks of Delphi, daughter-Misty & Michael Mayhill of Delphi, son-Cody & Jami Walker of Delphi, grandchildren: Hailee, Alyssa, & Lillian, Cami Ayres, Austin & Tyler. Great granddaughter Ophelia. Father & stepmother-Larry & Ruth Walker of Monticello, stepdad-Lee Howe of Flora, sister-Darla & Scott Houser of Delphi, sister-Patti Alley of Monticello, brother-Richard & Nancy Alley of Otterbein, sister-Kandy & Jeff Cook of Flora, brother-Terry Alley of Lafayette, sister-Wendy & Ryan Bentley of Delphi, & sister-Lisa Howe of Lafayette. Services: Visitation will be Saturday from 11am until her funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor Lee Howe officiating. Burial at Pleasant Run Cemetery, rural Delphi. Memorial contributions to the Pittsburg Community Church or the Buddy Bag Food Program, envelopes available at the funeral home.
