Obituary

Ruth Coble Crawn 94, of rural Delphi, passed away Monday-January 31, 2022, in Wadley, GA, at her daughter's home, after becoming ill while visiting her there. She was born November 26, 1927, in Jefferson Township, Carroll County, IN, to the late Roy & Hazel McCain Coble. Her marriage was to Cloyd T. Crawn, at the Hickory Grove Church, on May 30, 1948, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2008. Ruth was a 1948 graduate of the former Adams Township High School. She worked for 21 years at the former Peters-Revington Furniture Factory in Delphi, and helped her son Dan, cook and work the counter, when he owned the Sandwich Shop in Delphi. She also sold Avon for many years and was a homemaker. Ruth was a longtime and very active member of the Hickory Grove Church. She served on several boards and held most of the offices of the church, was a Sunday school teacher, and very active with the Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the Adams Township Home Ec Club, Carroll County Farm Bureau, Carroll County Historical Society, and the Wabash & Erie Canal Association. She also volunteered at the Monticello Healthcare Center and at the canal in Delphi.  She enjoyed exercising, was an avid reader, gardening, and her many flower gardens around her home. She enjoyed traveling, and had extensively traveled around the U.S., and trips to Japan, Germany, and the Holy Land. She and her good friend Sarah McManus went to South America on a very special trip too. Ruth's dedication to the good Lord, and her family, her strict work ethic, was an inspiration to her family, friends, and neighbors who knew her. She dearly loved her family and being together for any occasion. Surviving: son-Sam & Julie Crawn of Brownsburg; daughters-Vicki & Vern Criswell of Delphi, Eva & Richard Gould of Fuquay-Varina, NC, & Kitty & Brannen Bargeron of Wadley, GA; son in law-Paul Roller of Monticello. 10 grandchildren, & 13 great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by 2 sons Jerry & Daniel Crawn; 2 sister's Josephine & Mary; daughter in law-Ruth Crawn Roller. Services: Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Her funeral service will be Saturday at 11am at the Hickory Grove Church, with viewing from 10am until her funeral, Pastor Erick Riddle officiating. Burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Delphi. Memorial contributions to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association, envelopes available at the funeral home.
