Roy L.
Rich
December 24, 1939 – December 5, 2023
Rev. Dr. Roy L. Rich, 83, of rural Camden, passed away Tuesday-December 5, 2023, at 10:55am, at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette. Roy was born on December 24, 1939, in Fithian, IL, to the late Roy & Lillian Hunter Rich. He married the love of his life, Delores J. Crank, in Booneville, MS, on August 26, 1957, and Delores survives. Roy became a licensed minister on January 1, 1969. In March of 1970 he was ordained bishop in the Church of God. He spent the next 42 years as a pastor in the Church of God, 7 years as an evangelist, covering 14 States he and his wife ministered in. He received his Doctor of Divinity on July 29, 2000. Roy retired from pastoring on May 5, 2005, in Jasonville, IN, at the Jasonville Church of God. He and Delores moved to the Camden, IN area not long after that, to be closer to their children. Throughout his ministry, Roy's passion was to teach the word of God, and reach people through his sermons, so they in turn could do the same thing. Spreading the good word of Jesus to those around them. He truly was a mentor to the many people he and his wife encountered during their ministry. He loved his congregations, the families, the church functions, helping construct new additions, or remodeling the current church building. He was involved in every aspect of the ministry. He had such an impact on a many of his members, that they too heard the call to the ministry and went on to become full time pastor's. Roy's deep seeded love in the good Lord, his faith in God, and the teachings of the bible, made him a great servant to the kingdom. He dearly loved his entire family; that was his life. He was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make everyone feel welcome and included. We are saddened deeply by his death, but know he is rejoicing in the presence of God. A job well done to a good and faithful servant. Surviving: wife of 66 years, Delores J. Rich of Camden, daughter-Brenda & Allen Coulson of Lafayette, son-Roy & Nikki Rich II of Camden, daughter-Sherry Brewer of Camden, daughter-Teresa & Jeff Gollnick of Dowagiac, MI, sister-Lily Dickey of Lakeland, FL, sister-Loma & Dan Knutt of Decatur, IL. 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a daughter Angela Stickney and son-in-law Terry Brewer. Services: Visitation will be Friday-Dec. 15, from 4pm to 7pm, at the First Assembly of God Church in Delphi.
