Robert G. "Bob" Teel, 84, of rural Brookston, passed away on Tuesday-October 13, 2015 in West Lafayette, Indiana.
He was born March 2, 1931 in Carroll County, Indiana to the late Ben and Hulda Schnieb Teel and graduated from Chalmers High School in 1949. He married Phyllis M. Cole Teel in Delphi, Indiana on March 18, 1951 and she survives.
Bob served in the National Guard from 1952-1954 and then the Army 58th Artillery Battalion from 1954-1956. He was stationed at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and was a communications instructor. He then turned to farming in White County, and continued in that occupation with his brother, son and nephew until he retired in 2006.
Bob was a member and deacon of the Zion Bethel Church in Monticello, Indiana. He served in many roles over the years and had the impact of helping to train the younger men of the church for their future leadership.
Surviving are a daughter, Melanie Nied (sp. Jim) of Maumee, Ohio; a son, Jeff Teel (sp. Angie) of Brookston, Indiana; a daughter, Marcie Fairchild (sp. David) of West Chester, Ohio; and a brother, Benny Teel of Brookston, Indiana. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Dustin (sp. Leah) Walter, Danielle Walter, Dawn Walter and one great grandchild, Alejandro Gonzalez.
Visitation will be at the Zion Bethel Church, 415 S. 3rd St., Monticello, Indiana from 4-7 p.m., Friday-October 16, 2015. Funeral services will be at the church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday-October 17, 2015, Pastor Jeff Messer officiating. Interment will be at the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery in West Lafayette, Indiana.
