Robert F. "Bob" Rudicel, 79, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly at his residence, Monday-Oct 1, 2018 at 4:11am. He was born Nov 12, 1938 in Twelve Mile, IN, to the late Carl & Esther Williamson Rudicel. His marriage was to Ruth A. Hoehne, at the Fulton Baptist Church, on Oct 22, 1966, and she survives. He was a 1957 graduate of Twelve Mile High School. He and his wife owned and operated Sand Hill View Farms, near Twelve Mile, raising and milking their Holstein cattle, and grain farming for 36 years, retiring in 2002. He raised quality Holsteins, and sold them all over the United States and Canada. Many of his cattle won shows across the U.S. After retiring, he and his wife moved to the Lafayette area, and he worked for Menard's in Lafayette in security for 10 years. He also worked as seasonal help for Todd Welch Farms for several years. While living near Twelve Mile, he and his family were active with the Methodist Church. He was a life member of the National Holstein Association, and the Indiana Holstein Association. He enjoyed music, and loved to sing, and played the saxophone in a family band, when he was younger. He loved to play basketball, and was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. He also loved the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed riding around his neighborhood on his Gator, talking to his friends, and catching up on their lives. His greatest love was his family. He dearly loved them all, and especially his grandchildren, and attending their many sporting events. Surviving: wife-Ruth A. Rudicel of Lafayette; son-Michael & Sheri Rudicel of Peru; daughter-Joy C. Spitznogle of Lafayette; daughter-Jill & Jason Taylor of Denver, CO; son-Mark & Jamie Rudicel of Camden; brothers-Rex & Jenny Rudicel of Twelve Mile, Richard & Carla Rudicel of Kokomo; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandson. Services: The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1pm until his memorial service at 3pm, at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
