Obituary

Richard C. Fuchs, Jr., 63, of Delphi, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday-September 9, 2025, at 8:51pm, at IU Health Arnett Emergency room in Lafayette. Richard was born August 8, 1962, in the Bronx, NY, to the late Richard Sr & Patricia Corcoran Fuchs. His marriage was to Cheryl A. Calvert in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, USA, on December 18, 2023, and she survives. Richard graduated from Narrowsburg High School in the Bronx and attended the University of Maryland and was in the Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity. He also graduated magna cum laude from Ivy Tech with a degree in automotive engineering. Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the PA National Guard from May 12, 1978, to September 1, 1980. He then was active duty from September until honorably discharged on November 21, 1986. He was supporting staff for Urgent Fury. He was a mechanic for heavy trucks and multiple wheeled vehicles, and a recovery specialist. He was in the 82nd Airbourne, and a graduate of NCO school with honors. He had worked at the Westville Corrections Facility for 4 years, and at Rockwell Corporation in Mishawaka as a welder, and as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic at various shops in Indiana. He and his wife attended the Radnor United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the New Carlisle VFW & American Legion. He was an avid MN Vikings football fan, attending many games with his son's. He enjoyed fishing, especially for Salmon, and he loved his two cats Rocky & George. He dearly loved his wife and family and enjoyed being together for any occasion.  Surviving: wife-Cheryl A. Fuchs of Delphi, son-Derek C. Fuchs of North Liberty, son-Travis M. Fuchs of North Liberty, son-Kevin R. Fuchs of North Liberty, sister-Patricia & Bob Hanson of Fort Mills, SC, brother-Roger & Chris Fuchs of Walkerton, father-in-law-Glen "Pops" & Linda Calvert of Delphi, brother-in-law-Glen "Butch" Calvert of Delphi.  Services: Visitation will be Tuesday from 11am until his funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor Greg Norman officiating. Burial at Lutheran Cemetery, Colburn. Military Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
