Obituary

Mildred "Milly" Million Baker, 98, passed away Monday-August 23, 2021 at her residence at Westminster Village in West Lafayette, at 7:04pm. She was born March 30, 1923 in Rockfield, to the late Carl & Dessie Pearson Million. Her marriage was to Carl A. Baker in Rockfield on October 21, 1944, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2009. She was a 1940 graduate of Rockfield High School, and attended Purdue University. As a young woman during the war, she worked at ALCOA in the office, to help with the war effort. She helped her husband on their farm, and was a homemaker. When her husband retired from farming, they moved to Flora for several years, and then to Westminster Village in 2011. She was a longtime member and very active in the Rockfield Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, and was involved with women's fellowship. She and her husband then became members of the Flora United Methodist Church while living there. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Camden, and the Jackson Township Aim High Home Ec Club. They enjoyed traveling, and purchased a motorhome, and traveled the U.S. extensively. She enjoyed sewing and cooking big family meals for her family. Her sons said how supportive their parents where of them in their endeavors, especially extra support from their mother, as mother's do. Milly's family was everything to her. She dearly loved them all, and appreciated all the loving support and care they gave her. Surviving: son-Ronald & Sharon Baker of West Lafayette, son-Robert & Carol Baker of Lafayette; 5 grandchildren: Kelly & Mike Walters, Jodie & Tim Lacey, Andrea & Matthew Pfeiffer, Lauren Baker, and Kristen & Darrell Hunt. 4 step grandchildren: Melissa & Justin Darling, Gwyn Rosales, Sarah & John Springman, and David Weber. 20 great grandchildren & 4 great great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a sister June Wasson. Services: Visitation will be Friday from 2pm until her funeral service at 4pm at Wheeler Family Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, Flora. Rev. Larry DeVos officiating. Burial at Camden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association-Indiana Chapter, 7202 E. 87th St., Ste.102, Indianapolis, IN 46256.
