Obituary

Michael T. Valenta, 64, of Brookston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday-July 2, 2026, at 12:49am, at Franciscan East Hospital in Lafayette. Mike was born on January 24, 1962, in Marshalltown, IA, to the late Bernard & Geraldine Schaefer Valenta. His marriage was to Linda A. Bryant, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi, on August 4, 1984, and she survives. He graduated from Delphi Community High School in 1980, and graduated from Purdue University in 2007, and was on the Dean’s list for his grades. He loved the semi-trailer industry and worked for Wabash National in Lafayette for 25 years before transitioning to Vanguard National Trailer in Monon for 16 years, retiring in 2025. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. He enjoyed Purdue sports, fishing, boating, and anything on or near the water. He loved cars, especially his 67 Chevelle SS, cruising, and keeping it spotless. He enjoyed grilling for his family and having them over for a meal. He dearly loved them all and cherished the time they would spend together. Surviving: wife-Linda A. Valenta of Brookston, son-Christopher & Stephanie Valenta of Delphi, son-Joey Valenta of Brookston, daughter-Miranda & Joshua Danner of Frankfort, grandchildren: Morgan & Melody Valenta, Raelynn & Jordyn Danner, brother-Craig & Mary Valenta of Lynchburg, TN, mother-in-law Jane Bryant of Parrish, FL. Preceded in death by a granddaughter Mazie, sister Dawn, brother Tim, & father-in-law Jack.

Services: Visitation will be Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral Mass Thursday 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi, Father Chris Miller officiating.
