Michael R Brummett, 72 of Delphi, passed away Thursday-January 1, 2026. Mike was born on September 3, 1953, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Raymond & Shirley Hughes Brummett. Mike married Janice A. Koster at the Crestwood Christian Church in Crestwood, KY, on August 27, 1978, and she survives. Mike was a 1971 graduate of Frontier High School and attended Ball State University. He started his career at Merryll Lynch in Louisville selling commodities. He then went to work for Farm Bureau Insurance for many years, and then to MBAH Insurance of Lafayette, selling agricultural crop insurance, as a part owner in the firm, until his retirement. Mike had a history in farming, having been raised on his family farm, and in retirement he helped his younger brother during planting and harvest. He and his wife would attend the Delphi Methodist Church. An avid golfer and won the men's golf championship at the Carroll County Country Club in Delphi. Mike and Jan were always up for an adventure. They loved to SCUBA dive, go snowmobiling out West, an avid outdoorsman, he appreciated everything about nature, he also liked Purdue Athletics. Family was everything to Mike, and he especially liked to watch his grandchildren's sporting events and going to their school functions. He dearly loved his wife and family, and extended family. Surviving: wife-Janice A. Brummett of Delphi, daughter-Tonya & William "Bill" Chastain of Huntertown, sister-Deb & Terry Corso of Chalmers, brother-Rex & Bonnie Brummett of Brookston, brother-Mark W. Brummett of Brookston, brother-Rick & Judi Brummett of Brookston, grandchildren: Chandler Chastain, Caitlyn & Ryan Olson, Caroline Chastain, Holten Raider, Landry Raider, son-in-law David Raider of Hebron, KY, sister-in-laws: Connie Flick of Monticello, Jennifer & Kenny DeKock of Wheatfield, & Susie Koster of Wheatfield. Preceded in death by a son Christopher Brummett, daughter Terri Raider, brother-in-law Jerry Koster. Services: The family will receive friends on Saturday the 10th, from 11am until his funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating.
