Max E. Rude, 79, Camden, died at 3:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. He was born April 4, 1936, in Rossville to the late William and Helen Bolinger Rude. He married Mary L. Walters in Camden on July 24, 1976, and she survives.
He was a 1955 graduate of Camden High School. He served in the Indiana National Guard. He worked at the former SAYCO (Briggs Manufacturing) in Flora for many years, retiring in 2000. He attended the Camden Baptist Church for many years and was a deacon, then he and his wife started attending the Judson Baptist Church near Kokomo. He was a Jackson Township trustee for two terms. He served for over 50 years on the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department in Camden and was a former chief. He enjoyed John Wayne movies and westerns.
Surviving are his wife, Mary L. Rude, Delphi; son, Byron and Barbarie Rude, Camden; daughters, Barbara Rude, Avon, Brenda Taylor, Rockfield; stepson, Monte and Tracie Anderson, Lafayette; stepdaughter, Jerilyn Anderson, Bloomington; sister, Donna (Ron) Swayze, Camden; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Abbott Funeral Home Inc., Delphi. The funeral will be there at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Gary Britton officiating. Burial will be in Camden Cemetery.
