Mary Kathleen MacPherson Hanaway, 67, of Lafayette, passed away Monday-September 21, 2026, at 4:25pm, at St. Anthony Healthcare Center in Lafayette, after a brave and brief battle with cancer. Mary was born on December 4, 1958, in Monticello, to the late Donald & Patricia Abrahamzon MacPherson. Her marriage was to her soulmate, Carl T. “CT” Hanaway Jr, on May 18, 2002, in Lafayette, 24 years together. She was a 1976 graduate of Twin Lakes High School. She received her BS in business administration from Ball State University in 1980, where she met 2 of her lifelong friends Theresa & Connie. She worked for Burger King Franchise Corp in Lafayette for 20 years and became great friends with Greg & Jane. She has currently worked for Thieme, Adair, & Riley CPAs in Lafayette for the past 20 years. Mary enjoyed music and played the flute, piccolo, and piano. She had previously played in the Lafayette Symphony and while in high school played for the Lafayette flute choir. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her husband. She loved her cat Cee Cee, and all the others she had as well. Her greatest love was for her husband and family. She dearly loved them all and cherished the times they could all be together. Surviving: husband-Carl T. “CT” Hanaway Jr of Lafayette, sister-Sharon L. Blankenship of Monticello, sister-Donna & Larry Thompson of Chalmers, special nephews: David MacPherson of Pheonix, AZ & Patrick MacPherson of Syracuse, NY, and many other nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by a brother Donald “Buck” MacPherson. Services: The family will receive friends on Saturday-October 3, 2026, from 1pm until her memorial service at 4pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor Bruce Hankins will officiate.
