Obituary

Marilyn K. Shultheis, 71, of Delphi, passed away Friday-May 5, 2023, at 9:50am, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi. She had battled cancer for the past 4 months and been at the healthcare center for 1 week. She was born November 4, 1951, in Lafayette, to the late Charles & Edna Yuill Shultheis. She graduated from Rossville High School in 1969. Marilyn started her banking career with the former Union Bank & Trust Co., which merged with several banks over the years, currently Regions Bank, where she worked as an assistant Vice President, overseeing the teller's and new account services. She worked at the bank for 40 years, retiring on May 30, 2009. Marilyn was a member of the Pyrmont Church of the Brethren. She formerly belonged to the Dolly Madison Home Ec Club, Tri Kappa Sorority, rural youth, and was on the Carroll County Cancer Association Board of Directors for several years. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, baking, working in her yard and keeping it mowed just right, and her beloved dog Katie. Marilyn dearly loved her family and spending time with them. Surviving: sister-Sharon & Bob Dewing of Kentland, niece-Jill & Greg Jones of Washington, nephew-Jon Dewing sp. Liz Williams of Burbank, CA, 2 great nieces: Zoe & Riley Dewing, 2 great nephews: Quinn & Vann Jones. Step siblings: Cindy & Rick Wasson of Monticello, Rosemary Mears of Lorton, VA, Jennifer Pritts of Burnettsville, Dee Mears of rural Chalmers. Preceded in death by her stepmother Ruth Gushwa Mears Shultheis, a stepbrother Robert Mears, a stepbrother in law Mark Pritts. Services: Visitation will be Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Her funeral service will be Thursday at 11am at the funeral home, Pastor William Scott officiating. Burial will be at Pyrmont Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association, or Pyrmont Cemetery Assoc., envelopes available at the funeral home.
