Obituary

Margaret E. Seward Childers, 89, of Delphi, died Sat.-Aug. 27, 2016, at 3:08pm at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. She was born Jan. 6, 1927 in Carroll County, to the late Daniel & Lottie Quinn Seward. Her marriage was to Charles K. Childers in Delphi, on Dec. 26, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Mar. 15, 2003. She had lived for the past 3 years at Greentree Assisted Living in West Lafayette. She was a 1945 graduate of the former Carrollton School. She was a homemaker, and helped her husband on their farm. She was a member of the Carroll County Pork Producers, Indiana Pork Producers, and won the Maxine Nash Award for her efforts within the association and hog production. She belonged to the Modern Mrs Home Ec Club; was involved with the Carroll County ARC; and was active with the Carroll County Republican Women's Assoc. She was baptized in the Christian faith, and had attended area churches. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, and gardening. Surviving: daughters-Teresa & Phil Martin of Delphi, Ellen Williams of Mandan, ND; brother-Bill & Rosie Seward of Flora; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter Carol; 3 sister's. Services: Friends may call Tuesday from 11am until her funeral at 2pm, at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Tom Colby & Pastor Reggie Alderman officiating. Burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg. Memorial contributions to the Carroll Co.
