Mae Etta Carmichael, 97, Delphi

Mae Etta (Cobbs) Carmichael passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at 7:12 p.m. at I U Health in Lafayette, Indiana.  She was born in Louisville, KY on July 16, 1924, to the late Meredith B. Cobbs and Artie Flener Cobbs.

She married Wayne C. Carmichael on Jan. 26, 1955, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2004.

She was a member of Rockfield Christian Church since 1965 where she sang and played her guitar.  She was a songwriter and wrote and sang many of her religious songs at her church.

She enjoyed birthday parties, crocheting, playing her guitar, and spending time with her family whom she was very proud of.  She made the best apple pies that you have ever tasted.

Mae Etta Carmichael is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Joe) Quinn of West Lafayette, a grandson, Zachary (Rachel) Quinn of Wichita, KS, a granddaughter, Mindy (Jason) Mauch of West Lafayette, and three great-grandchildren: Eliana, Oliver, and Charlotte Mauch, all of West Lafayette, IN.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  Three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Viewing will be at the Rockfield Christian Church on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with the services following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Dishon officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service in Morning Heights Cemetery in rural Delphi. Masks will be required, and social distancing protocols will need to be followed.  Those unable to do so are asked to make online condolences.
