Obituary

Leland William Blohm, 94, of Burrows, died Thursday-June 15, 2017 at 9:20am, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. He had been a resident there for 4 months. He was born Oct 5, 1922 in Monroe, MI, to the late Albert & Selma Ray Blohm. His marriage was to Margaret A. Helvie in Young America, on June 15, 1947, and she survives. He attended school in Monroe, MI. He was a WW II Veteran, serving in the Navy from 1942-1946, as a Gunners Mate 2nd Class, on a Naval Amphibious Ship, serving in both the European & Pacific Theaters, D-Day invasion, and several other missions. He worked for 40 years at Wolf Construction in Logansport, doing commercial construction and iron work, and was instrumental in starting the Union there, and was a member of the Laborers & Hod Carries Union. He was a former member of the Logansport American Legion. He enjoyed gardening & traveling with his wife. He loved his cat Buddy. Surviving: wife-Margaret A. Blohm of Burrows; grandchildren-Richard & Marcela Johnson of Sulsue, CA, Cheryl & Gerold Rood of OK, Jennifer Blohm of Peru; sister-Ilene McCarty of Camden; dear friends: Chris & Jimmy Arion of Delphi, Della Frazier Barrett, nieces & nephews; 8 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 brother's. Services: Friends may call Tuesday from 10am until his funeral service at 11am at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor Greg Britt officiating.
