John E. Heffley, 85, of Delphi, died Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. John was born to the late Leslie and Sylvia Clawson Heffley on June 1, 1936, in Frankfort, Indiana. John graduated from Delphi High School in 1954. He married Darlene Sneathen in 1969 in Pyrmont, IN and she survives. John retired in 1998 from TRW in Lafayette working there 32 years. He also worked at National Homes in Lafayette. John was a skilled carpenter building his own home where he and Darlene raised their three children. He enjoyed working outdoors, collecting guns, coins, stamps and antiques. He served our Country in the Army National Guard for nine years. John is survived by his wife Darlene of 53 years. Daughter: Judy and Doug Vaughan of Lafayette. Two sons: Bryan and Heather Heffley of Delphi and James Heffley of Germany. Brother: Charles and Lois Heffley of West Lafayette. Five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents, grandson: Eric Cropper, two sisters: Rosemary and Lois Mae. The Heffley Family invite friends to visit Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Celebration of John's Life will be at 7:00 PM at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. Pastor Brad Burton will officiate. Private burial will be Friday at Zion Cemetery with the Carroll County Honor Guard Military Rites.
