Janice L. Bontrager Teel, 73, of rural Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly Thursday-June 3, 2021 at 12:38am at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. She was born January 12, 1948 in Goshen, to the late William & Martha Kauffman Bontrager. Her marriage was to Ralph B. Teel at a United Methodist Church in the country near Millersburg, on October 8, 1977, and he survives. She was a member of the class of 1966 Lakeland High School in LaGrange, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, stationed at Fort Hood, TX, as a communication center specialist. Jan was a homemaker, and managed the bakery at the Blue Gate Restaurant in Shipshewana, and had also worked at a craft store there too. She loved raising miniature horses, crafts, home interior decorating, and her many flower gardens she would plant around their home. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music, and sang in the church choir they were attending. She traveled to the Holy Land twice, and enjoyed all the different sites they were able to go to, and she and Ralph enjoyed traveling to other destinations in the U.S. too. She dearly loved her family and spending time with them. Surviving: husband-Ralph B. Teel of Lafayette; daughter-Stephanie & Eric Summerfield of Lafayette; son-Steve & Ashley Sanders of Goshen; stepson-Ryan & April Teel of West Lafayette; stepson-Eric & Jen Keubler of Tiffin, OH; brothers-Ron & Kathy Bontrager of Mount Pleasant, MI, Ray Bontrager of Remus, MI; father in law-Benny D. Teel of Brookston; other extended family. Preceded in death by a brother Robert; a sister Carol. Services: Visitation will be Wednesday from 5pm-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service Thursday at 11am at the Clinton Frame Church, 63846 CR 35, Goshen IN 46528, Pastor Herman Kauffman officiating. Burial at Benton-Lutheran Cemetery, Goshen.
