Jane A. Dowell Perdue, 89, formerly of rural Tippecanoe County near Americus, passed away Monday-February 5, 2024, at 11:40am, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi, where she has resided for the past 3 years. She was born on May 1, 1934, in Fountain County, IN, near Pine Village, to her late father Delmas A. Dowell, and her mother Helen W. Lowery Chafin. Her marriage was to Robert D. "RD" Perdue, on December 2, 1950, in Dayton, and he passed away on March 30, 2016. Jane attended the former Monitor High School, and later completed her GED. She was a devoted homemaker and helped her husband on their farm. Raising cattle, hogs, sheep & chickens, and always had geese and ducks running around too. She had lived on their farm on CR900 for 60 years. She delivered newspapers for the Lafayette Journal & Courier for many years, sold Avon & Fuller brush products, and managed the former Sailor Bills restaurant in Americus for 2 years. She would help her husband at the recycle plant sometimes as well. Jane attended the Fountain of Life Church in Rossville and had accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into her life. She was a member of the Hope Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past worthy matron and belonged to the Grand Page of the OES of Indianapolis. They always put out a big garden and she loved to can, especially fruit-based goodies and was known for her homemade relish. Another family favorite was her homemade noodles. And being the awesome cook she was, her dining room table was always full of family & friends. She enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, mushroom hunting, and was always available to help anyone in need. She and her family enjoyed the time they would spend at their cottage on the Wabash River. Enjoying boating & swimming and just being outside taking in the beautiful scenery. Jane was a two-time cancer survivor, and an advocate for those undergoing treatment. She would bring them meals and make sure they had everything they needed. Her greatest love was for her family. She lived and breathed for them. Enjoyed having them all at her home for a meal or any occasion. That was her life. Surviving: daughter-Connie J. Wilson of Lafayette, son-Terry & Tammy Perdue of Battle Ground, son-Rick & Sharon Perdue of Lafayette, sister-Sussie Anthony of Rossville, brother-Luther "Lute" & Carol Dowell of Remmington, brother-Frank "Frankie" & Jan Dowell of Attica, daughter-in-law-Greta Perdue Dodson of West Lafayette, 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a son Fred Perdue, granddaughter Laura, son-in-law Buck, 3 sisters Dorothy, Barb, & Pat, a brother Tom, 3 brother in laws Glen, Kenny & Cliff. Services: Visitation will be Thursday from 11am until her funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi, her grandson Mark Perdue officiating. Burial will be at Americus Cemetery.
