Obituary

Jack L. Cross, 72, of Delphi, passed away on Tuesday, December 5th at Franciscan Health. He was born December 10, 1950, to Charles Milburn and Alice Marie (Barnes) Cross. He graduated from Southwood High School in 1969. He furthered his education at Purdue University with a degree in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business Management. He was a four-year member of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club and Chauncey Cooperative. He met his wife of 49 years, Donna (Weaver) Cross, at Purdue and together they raised their 2 sons, Casey and Kyle. Jack was a Buyer for Farm Bureau Cooperative, Merchandise Manager at JCPenney, Loan Officer with Farmers Home Administration, Branch Manager at Farm Credit Services, and a Vice President and Branch Manager at Salin Bank.  His experiences led him to the appraisal world.  He was still working and providing farm appraisals until his death. Jack was a long time Rotary member, earning the Rotary Lifetime Achievement Award, the Woodruff Key Award, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He organized the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp for 30 years, coached Middle School Tennis, was a past member of the Camp Tecumseh Board of Directors, and had a radio spot called, "60 Seconds On Success." He sang in the church choir and taught youth Sunday School, and enjoyed woodworking, painting, and traveling. He is survived by his wife and sons Casey (Janice), Kyle (Sarah), three grandchildren, Cooper, Jackson, and Adriann, a step grandson Brenden & Sarah White, a sister Peggy, a brother-in-law Chuck Sponhauer, several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe and wife Nancy, and sister-in-law Barbara Sponhauer.  Services: Visitation will be Wednesday from 11am until his funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Rev. Todd Ladd will officiate. The burial will be at Galveston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Camp Tecumseh or Delphi Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
