Harold A. Powell, 84, of rural Delphi, passed away Sunday-November 21, 2021 at 12:00am at his residence. He had been in ill health the last 2 years. He was born May 20, 1937 in Lafayette, to the late Harold F. & Mary L. Martin Powell. His marriage was to Mable L. McVey in Chalmers, on June 5, 1959, and she survives. Harold was a 1956 graduate of Delphi High School. He worked for 41 years at the former ALCOA Manufacturing in Lafayette, retiring May 1, 2006. He served in the Army in the Indiana National Guard for 8 years. He attended the Delphi United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Delphi American Legion Post #75, and the ALCOA 25 year club. Harold enjoyed crafts, collectibles, making knives, and keeping his yard and landscape perfectly trimmed and mowed. He enjoyed traveling with his family, his pet birds, and his dog Abby. He dearly loved his family, and being with them for any occasion. Surviving: wife-Mable L. Powell of Delphi; son-Tony W. Powell & Janet Fry of Delphi, son-Steve A. Powell of Delphi; sister-Patricia King of Lafayette; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son Mike; and 2 infant sister's. Services: Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. His funeral service will be there on Wednesday at 11am. Burial at Masonic Cemetery, Delphi. Carroll County Honor Guard providing Military Honor's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, envelopes available at the funeral home.
