Goldmon M. Bowling, 91, formerly of Delphi, died Sat-April 15, 2017, at 2:45pm, at the University of Louisville Hospital. He had lived in Greensburg, KY for the past few years. He was born Oct 5, 1925 in Leslie Co., KY, to the late Mitch & Zubie Woods Bowling. His 1st marriage was to Bedeva L. Moss in Columbia, KY, on June 2, 1949, and she preceded him in death on July 18, 2013. He then married Venie I. Coffey in Greensburg, KY, on Nov. 13, 2013, and she survives. He graduated from Hyden, KY high school, and received his teaching degree from Linsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY. He taught in a one room school for 1 year in Kentucky. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, 1942-1946, stationed in Okinawa, Pacific Theater. He retired from The Anderson's near Delphi, after 9 years, working in maintenance. He worked for the former General Food's in Lafayette for 15 years, as head of maintenance, and also at the former Berger Steel Co., Lafayette. He was a former member of the Delphi United Methodist Church; Delphi Masonic Lodge; Delphi American Legion Post #75; Delphi Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and camping, and loved to travel with his wife and family. He enjoyed knife & gun collecting, and liked mules. Surviving: wife-Venie Ilene Bowling of Greensburg, KY; son-Daniel Barry Bowling of Battle Ground; sister-Lois Jean & Jim Bradford of Delphi; brothers-Desha & Betty Bowling of West Point, Edgar & Sue Bowling of Defiance, OH; stepchildren: Roy Wayne Coffey, Margaret Jachym, Phillip Coffey, Debbie Atwell, all of Kentucky; 2 grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 sons: Wayne & Clark; 1 sister, 5 brother's. Services: Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service Thursday 10:30am at the Delphi United Methodist Church, Rev. Todd Ladd officiating. Burial at Masonic Cemetery, Delphi, with Carroll Co. Honor Guard military rites.
