Eugene E. Welk, 78, of Delphi, passed way Sunday-January 24, 2021, at 7:25pm at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi, where he has been a resident since 2019. He was born in Tippecanoe County on November 4, 1942, to the late Marlin & Edna Cottrell Welk. His marriage was to Judith L. "Judy" Post, in Delphi, on May 5, 1991, and she survives. Gene was a 1960 graduate of Clinton Prairie High School. He formerly worked for a short time at Zackary Confections in Frankfort, then was the bookkeeper at Yeager & Sullivan Farms near Camden for 22 years, and lastly at the former Peters-Revington Furniture Factory in Delphi for 7 years before retiring from there. He also had an appliance and small engine repair shop he did from his home for many years. Gene attended the Delphi United Methodist Church. While living near Camden he was a volunteer Fireman for the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He and his family enjoyed camping, and he loved to work cross word puzzles. He enjoyed square dancing, and was a "caller" for 10 years. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them. Surviving: wife-Judy L. Welk of Delphi; daughter-Cathy & Mike Freeman of Delphi; son-Mark Welk & his wife Alicia Suarez of Bloomington; step children: Tim John & Terry Miller of Corapeake, NC, Kathy & Joe Miele of Macon, GA, Debbie & Mark Henry of Greentown; sister-Marilyn & Russ "RJ" Renicker of Rossville. 5 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a grandson Judah Lynn Welk. Services: Visitation will be Monday-Feb 1, 2021 from 11am until his funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi.
