Earl Dean Cox, 81, of Delphi, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday-January 29, 2021,at 5:47pm, after a brief illness, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was born July 7, 1939 in Indianapolis, to the late William & Bernice Crawford Cox. His marriage was to Norma Jean Peet Hampton in Delphi, on April 28, 2017, and she survives. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1957. He worked for Culligan in Delphi for over 20 years, then for Schwan Sales Ent., as a route specialist, for 17 years, retiring from there in 2001. While working for Schwan's, he was salesman of the year, for the entire State of Indiana. He formerly attended the Zion Bethel Church in Monticello, and volunteered and helped with the church's Christmas season, "Journey to Bethlehem" production. He currently was attending Faith Church of Lafayette. He taught Sunday school for many years, and loved to engage people in theological discussions. He was a member and past officer of the Gideon's, and was a member and supporter of Birthright of Delphi, and Grace to You ministries. He was a volunteer and coordinator of the Salvation Army in White County for many years. He enjoyed fishing, and Euchre card games, and loved to watch the Chicago Cubs. He was the current president of the tenant association at Water Tower Place in Delphi. He won the Dale Carnegie award for public speaking. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them. Surviving: wife-Norma J. Cox of Delphi; daughters-Kimberly J. Baker of Parkville, MO, and Pamela & Jerry Wenger of Bristol; sisters-Joyce & Jerry Hancock of Huntingburg, Janice & Steve Legg of Windfall; brother-William & Shelby Cox of Lafayette; 8 grandchildren survive; 2 stepsons-John & Enice Hampton of Stuttgart, Germany, and Mike & Erin Hampton of Stafford, VA; 4 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandson survive. Preceded in death by a brother Raymond E. Cox. Services: Private family services will take place Saturday-Feb. 6, 2021 at 11am at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Jerry Wenger will officiate.
