Donna May Tharp Canen, 91, of Delphi, died Sat-Aug 26, 2017 at 7:25pm, at St Elizabeth East Hospital, Laf. She had lived for 2 years at St. Mary's Healthcare in Lafayette. She was born June 3, 1926 in Swayzee, to the late Donald Tharp, and Gladys Barker Rook. She was a 1944 graduate of Swayzee High School, and received her degree in business from the Elkhart Business University. She worked for 35 years for H&R Block Tax Service, in Delphi, retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church for many years, then attended the First Baptist Church of Delphi. She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, gardening, crafts, and jigsaw puzzles. She loved music, and enjoyed playing her piano. She enjoyed sports, and loved to play basketball and other games with her family and grandchildren. She was a house mother for a sorority at Purdue University, West Lafayette. She dearly loved her family, and going to her grandchildren's activities. Surviving: daughter-Nancy McCracken of Chalmers; sons-Tim & Beth Canen of Camden, Gary & Debbie Canen of Santa Claus, IN, Jeff Canen of Lafayette; daughter in law-Sandi Canen of Wyoming, MI. 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son Rick; 2 sister's; 1 brother. Services: friends may call Thursday from 5-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service there Friday 11am, Rev. Bill Glenn officiating. Private family interment at a later date.
