Obituary

Dale A. Douglass, 88, of Delphi, died Fri.-July 1, 2016 at 6:10am, at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello. He had been in declining health, and a resident there for the past 6 months. He was born June 27, 1928 in Grass Creek, IN, to the late Elmer & Nola Burton Douglass. His marriage was to Thelma J. Rodgers, on April 15, 1983 in Kokomo, and she survives. He was a 1946 graduate of Grass Creek High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving 2 years. He joined the Indiana State Police Department in 1952, and worked at the Indianapolis, West Lafayette, and Peru Posts, retiring as a 1st Sargent after 31 years in June of 1983. He then worked for NIPSCO at Monticello in security for 13 years. While living in Delphi, he was involved with several philanthropic & fraternal organizations. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post #75, and the Indiana State Police Alliance. Surviving: wife-Thelma J. Douglass of Delphi; daughter-Karen Douglass Moore of Rochester; sons-David A. Douglass of Rochester, Kurt & Kim Douglass of Dublin, OH; sister-Dorothy & Harry Richter of Rochester; brother-Don & Nancy Douglass of Kewanna; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son in law Dick Moore; stepson Gary Boyles. Services: Friends may call Tuesday from 4pm until his funeral service at 6pm, at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Indiana State Police District Chaplin Lee McReynolds officiating.
