Christine Ann
Smith Zootman
November 17, 1952 – March 30, 2024
Christine Ann "Christy" Smith Zootman, 71, of Camden, passed away Saturday-March 30, 2024, at 5:45pm, at her home in Camden, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 17, 1952, in Berwyn, IL, to the late Vernon & Rosalie Decker Smith. She graduated from Morton West High School in 1970, and attended Moody Bible Institute, majoring in missions. She married Nord Len Zootman in Monticello, on August 21, 1971, and he survives. Second to the Lord, family was the most important thing in Christy's life. She worked hard to make sure that her family was well cared for, and what they all experienced was a loving environment. She made sure that everyone in her family knew the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her family extended well beyond her biological family as she adopted a daughter and was a foster parent to some others. Christy was very compassionate with hurting people. She loved music and played the accordion and the hammered dulcimer. She filled the home with her laughter, singing and whistling. Christy had very strong convictions but was able to express them graciously. She loved plants, flowers, and gardening and loved her dogs. Christy enjoyed reading books, and especially enjoyed studying the bible. She loved genealogy and in recent years enjoyed connecting with family that she didn't know she had. Christy suffered from several medical issues, including two kidney transplants and several occurrences with cancer. She endured much with amazing grace and strength. She helped her husband at their church, Lockport Church, for the past 38 years. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, who dearly loved them all. Surviving: husband-Rev. Nord Zootman of Camden, daughter-Kelly & Tom Welborn of Lafayette, daughter-Karis & Michael Sturdivant of Camden, son-Ben & Beth Zootman of Bringhurst, daughter-Rachel & Gary Robinson of Camden, daughter-Megan & Wade Rodgers of Delphi, daughter-Katie Zootman of Camden, daughter-Allison & Jordan Riddle of West Lafayette, 18 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren survive. She was preceded in death by a brother Carl. Services: Visitation will be Friday from 3pm to 8pm at Lockport Church, 10301 N. 300 W., Burnettsville, IN 47926. Her funeral service will be there on Saturday at 11am, Rev. Ed Vasicek officiating. Burial at Camden Cemetery. The family is strongly suggesting memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to Loving Shepard Ministries, 1935 N. Main St., Bluffton, IN 46714, www.info@loving-shepard.org
