Candace N. "Candy" Hanaway Strong, 34, of Flora, died unexpectedly at her home Thursday-Dec. 3, 2020 at 6:21am. She was born June 12, 1986 in Logansport to her late mother Melody Lyn Lanham Hanaway, and her father Edward L. Hanaway, who survives. She married David M. Strong in Delphi on October 15, 2005, and he survives. She graduated from Lewis Cass High School in 2004. Candy currently worked at the Flora United Methodist Church in administration, and was in charge of the church's preschool, and was a homemaker. She and her family were members of the Flora United Methodist Church, and were very dedicated and active in the church's programs and community outreach. She also was active with the Community Youth Project, especially helping area youth receive meals during the Covid-19 pandemic. Candy enjoyed being involved in her daughters projects, and helped with Girl Scouts and Camden softball. She and David would dress up as Mr. & Mrs. Claus for Christmas parties and other community events. She loved her animals, especially her cat & dogs, and even her daughters Bearded Dragons they just had to have. She made them all part of her family. Candy enjoyed craft's, and decorating her home to whichever season we are in, especially Christmas. He greatest love was for her daughter's and husband, and extended family. That was her life. Surviving: husband-David M. Strong of Flora; daughters-Alivya Faith & Paisley Grace Strong both at home; sisters-Jessica & Chris Striegel of Flora, and Cassie & Steven Breedlove of Cutler; father-Edward "Ed" & Mindy Hanaway of Delphi; Aunt-Anne E. Wilson of Maroa, IL; Uncle-Dale & Kari Lanham of Hebron; Uncle-Carl "CT" & Mary Hanaway of Lafayette; Aunt-Sue Hanaway of Idaville; Aunt-Cindy & Greg Gardiner of Coarsegold, CA; half sister-Christen & Robert Farmer of Little Rock, Ark.; cousins, nieces & nephews; mother in law-Kim Strong of Logansport; brother in laws-Andy & Chloe Strong & Shane Strong & Hannah Sturgeon both of Logansport; sister in laws-Erika Strong of Logansport, Vicki & Eric Veach of Bringhurst. Preceded in death by paternal & maternal grandparents, a nephew Hudson, and a uncle. Services: Visitation will be Thursday from 11am until her funeral service at 1pm at the Flora United Methodist Church. Rev. Kevin Marsh officiating. Private family burial. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flora United Methodist Church Preschool or the Community Youth Project, envelopes available at her service.
