Beverly F. Whaley Mayfield, 91, of Delphi, passed away Wednesday-December 21, 2022, at 8:35 pm at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi. Beverly was born at home on a very hot July 1, 1931, in Kentland, to the late LaFern U. & Alice Weldon Whaley. Beverly graduated in 1949 from Alexander J. Kent High School in Kentland where she enjoyed marching band and speech competitions. Her marriage was to Joe A. Mayfield in Kentland, on April 25, 1953, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 1982. She was a homemaker and had worked part-time at L.S. Ayres and at her children's school. She and her husband lived in Denver Colorado, moved back to Indiana, and lived in Vincennes, Plymouth, Carmel, Flora and Delphi.  She was a 49-year active member of the Flora Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed volunteering her time for any occasion and was always ready to help in the kitchen.  She enjoyed studying the Bible and held a strong faith in Jesus as her Savior. When her children were young, she enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her family.  She was an awesome cook, always eager to feed you and your friends. She traveled extensively with her husband Joe, and after his passing with close friend and neighbor, Jane Smith. Beverly, affectionately known as Nana, dearly loved her family and being with them for any occasion. Surviving: son-Joe & Barb Mayfield of Delphi, daughter-Mary & Jay Schwartz of Monticello, sister-Nancy Shenberger of Kentland. 5 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by 2 brothers Wayne Whaley & David Whaley, and a sister Carolyn Payne. Services: A memorial service to celebrate Beverly's life will take place Saturday-June 10, 2023. The family will receive friends from 12pm until her memorial service starting at 2pm, at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Her son Joe and grandson Joey will officiate her service.
