Betty J. Johns Lantz, 87, of Delphi, died Thurs.-Feb. 12, 2015 at 5:48am at St. Elizabeth East Hospital-Laf. She was born Mar. 10, 1927 in Carroll County, to the late Ralph & Ethel Dillman Johns Sr. Her marriage was to Evan F. Lantz in Flora, on Mar. 21, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 2004. She attended Shadeland Schools. She and her husband farmed in Carroll County, and she was the Carroll County Matron under the late Sheriff Dale MaCurdy's term. She was a member of the Pike Creek Church of the Brethren-Monticello, and she and her husband wintered in Sebring, FL for many years. She was an avid crotchetier, making many lap blankets for seniors in nursing facilities. She enjoyed playing cards, and her flower gardens on her farm. She made Betty's Homemade Noodles for many years, selling them to local grocery stores and friends in her community. Surviving: daughter-Jane & Jim Norton of Washington, IN; sons: Loran & Gerri Lantz of Lafayette, Keith & Julie Lantz of Queen Creek, AZ; sisters: Delores & Jim Yates, and Pearl & Nelson Sines of Delphi, Wilma Lane of Cameron Park, CA, Marjorie Strasser of Lafayette; brother: Ralph "Don" & Rita Johns Jr of Delphi. 4 grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a granddaughter Rachel. Services: friends may call Saturday from 11am until her funeral at 1pm, at Abbott Funeral Home Inc., Delphi, Pastor Jason Metzinger officiating, burial at Hopewell Cemetery, Deer Creek.
