Benny D. Teel, 96, of rural Brookston, passed away in his home Monday-August 9, 2021 at 3:50pm. He was born May 8, 1925 to the late Ben & Hulda Schnieb Teel. His marriage was to Marjorie Ann Shaffer in Ockley on August 11, 1946, and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2012. He was a 1943 graduate of Camden High School. He was a milk inspector for the State of Indiana for a few years, then started farming with his dad and brother, and later with his own son's, in White County, raising grain, had dairy cows, cattle and hogs, and grew popcorn for Orville Redenbacher, for many years. He was a longtime member of the Chalmers Community Church, where he taught Sunday school, was a trustee, was on the church finance committee, and played on their dartball team. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing with the Whirly Twirlers, and playing euchre with their friends.. He and his family enjoyed traveling, especially to Turkey Run State Park, and other places. He liked to fish, and loved going to Canada with his friends for their annual fishing trip. He was a longtime Board member of the White County Farm Bureau, and was actively involved with Gideon's International. He was active with Grief Buddies, a local grief support group that would get together monthly, and he dearly enjoyed his special friend Kay that he met there. His family was everything to him. He loved the family dinners and gatherings they would share. His deep-seeded faith in God, hard work on his farm, and the love of his family, a life well lived. Surviving: son's-Ralph Teel of Lafayette, Lynn & Kandy Teel of Chalmers, and Randy Teel of Shadeland. 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a daughter Charlene Carter, a son Max Teel, brother and sister in law Robert & Phyllis Teel, a daughter in law Janice Teel. Services: visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service there Friday at 11am, with Pastor Bill Henderson officiating. Burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chalmers Community Church or Gideon's International, envelopes available at the funeral home.
