Obituary

Alvin Lee Munson, 80, of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday-January 9, 2024, at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette. Lee was born on July 19, 1943, in Humboldt, NE, to the late Harold & Opal Lionberger Munson. His marriage was to Rev. Jacqueline C. "Jackie" Miller, in Lafayette, on April 14, 2012, and she survives. Lee graduated from Humboldt High School in 1961 and served 4 years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS America Aircraft Carrier. Lee was a union carpenter and belonged to the local #215 of Lafayette, retiring from there after many years of service. He also had Munson & Son's Construction for several years. Lee belonged to the Delphi American Legion Post 75 and the Delphi VFW 9383. Lee was an avid golfer. He enjoyed the game, being with family or friends while he was playing, and to be outside enjoying the day. He was very artistic, and loved to paint, and enjoyed woodworking. Being from Nebraska he always rooted on the Cornhuskers football team and enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears too. He loved to travel to Florida to see his daughter and go to their favorite seafood restaurant to indulge in some of his favorite foods. He dearly loved his family and being with them for any occasion. They were his life. Surviving: wife-Rev. Jaqueline C. "Jackie" Munson of Lafayette, daughter-Jennifer & Steve Betz of Jacksonville, FL, son-Jon & Priscilla Munson of Delphi, son-Eric L. Munson of Delphi, sister-Faye & Richard Rhinehart of Nebraska City, NE, sister-Wilma & Rasty Stephens of Pawnee City, NE, 5 grandchildren: Brooke, Zachariah, Presley, Landon, & Jalyn, a great grandson Avi, bonus family: Nate & Dotti Foley, Seth & Alyssa Foley, Sara & Travis Goodwin, & Jake & Kali Foley, 13 bonus grandchildren survive. Mother -in-law-Genevieve MacIntire of Las Vegas, NV. Preceded in death by a brother Vernon, a sister Donna. Services: visitation will be Monday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi.
