Albert L. Levy
Albert Ladd "Buck" Levy, 78, of Delphi, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
Born June 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Melvin Alexander and Gretchen Bill Levy. He attended Roosevelt High School in Monticello, Class of 1954. He married the love of his life, Delores Ann Ferguson in Delphi, and she survives.
Albert was an auto mechanic at Shafer Chrysler Plymouth in Monticello before attending the Indiana State Police Academy at Indiana University, graduating in 1960. He was an Indiana State Trooper from 1960 until 1967, a sergeant in charge of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Division for the district until 1974. He then transferred to the Laboratory Division as a Crime Scene Investigator and Evidence Technician, positions he held until his retirement in 1990. During this time he acquired expertise in multiple forensic disciplines. He was a recognized expert and instructor in the breath test analyzer, fingerprint examination, arson investigation, and the preliminary identification of different drugs.
Albert was a member of the Monticello Presbyterian Church, MENSA International, Libanus Masonic Lodge in Monticello, the Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was past-president of the Tippecanoe County Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a member of the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police, Indiana State Police Alliance, Indiana State Police Pioneers, American Association of State Troopers and the Retired Troopers Associations. He was past president of the Indiana Arson and Crime Association and the Indiana Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators. He was co-founder of the Tippecanoe County Arson Task Force. He served on the Carroll County Board of Zoning Appeals.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Nancy Ann Yawn of Remington, Karen Sue Levy (Michael) McCanna of Lockport, Ill., and Teresa Arlene (Bradley) Moss of Brookston; three sons, Jason Eric Levy of Remington, David Allen Evans of Terre Haute, and Gregory Gene (Marsha) Evans of Brazil; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judith Jeanne Russell, and a brother, Bill Isaac Levy.
Family will receive friends Monday at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi, from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
